Among the 15 or so pieces, there’s a simple necklace made with pearls and gold-plated Swarovski crystal buttons from spring 1994 (the year Presley was born), a pair of earrings featuring paisley-shaped sculptures by Angel Dormer for fall 1993, and a necklace made with Presley’s signature freshwater pearls and gold plated beaded disc shapes also from fall 1993 collection. The jewelry is quirky and fun, much like Todd’s work, but has the same tactile and semi-classical qualities as Presely’s.

Both nephew and uncle find it special that they’re able to give these materials a new life and purpose. “Every single piece has passed through my dad’s hands as well as Todd’s,” Presley said. “The fact that your uncle designed something, your father made it, and, just a couple of decades later you pull it out and it becomes your art supply, I mean, that’s pretty unusual.” A true family affair. Some revolutions shatter boundaries with a crash and a bang; others arrive on tiptoe and, with a whisper, change the rules forever. Up until a very few years ago, a guy with a diamond Art Deco brooch winking from his black-tie ensemble would at least raise an eyebrow—and the fellow you went to high school with who has now paired his Hanes T-shirt with a single strand of pearls would elicit—well, if not a guffaw, at least a titter. But no longer.
